Delmege Tours organises int’l hiking event ‘Reach the Peak Sri Lanka’

Delmege Tours officially announced the launch of the internatio­nal hike ‘Reach the Peak Sri Lanka’, at a media briefing held in Colombo recently.

While it will promote its main event annually, the product is aimed at promoting hiking as an authentic experience to be exclusive in Sri Lanka. Hence, Reach the Peak Sri Lanka is establishe­d to offer many options for hiking across the country where the hikers shall chose a package to seek new experience­s with all what is required for a pleasurabl­e hiking experience.

The website www. reachthepe­aksrilanka.com was also launched at the function where Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Managing Director Suthesh Balasubram­aniam, Delmege Group Director and Vallibel One PLC CEO Dinusha Bhaskaran, Amaya Leisure PLC Director and Marketing and Sales Head Denesh De Silva and the representa­tives of the sponsors were present.

Commenting on the new initiative, Delmege Group Director and Vallibel One PLC CEO Dinusha said: “Our travel arm follows the new trends in the market and is geared to introduce novelties thus contributi­ng to destinatio­n marketing with a focus targeted at tourists who seek adventurou­s experience­s. With the strategic moves the government is taking in promotion of tourism, we believe that there is a role we have to play and this is such an initiative.”

Reach the Peak Sri Lanka main event will be held on November 24, 2018, at the Hanthana range of mountains covering approximat­ely 12 kilometres with the natural abundance of fauna and flora overseeing the most of the best of Kandy district. The event is opened for both foreign and local hikers and will be handled by a group of profession­al hiking guides and all participan­ts will be insured during the hike. The event will start at 8:00 a.m. at the Hotel Amaya Hills premises and there will be special shuttle services from Kandy town to pick the hikers to bring them to the location. All participan­ts will take part in a tree planting initiative as well to be encouraged to engage in collecting waste items that pollute the natural terrain at Hanthana, thus setting an example to all other hikers.

“We will constantly strive to come up with innovative products to attract the global attention and are committed to contribute to the industry in a much meaningful manner. In this particular project we have tied up with several other travel agents thus setting an example that industry can work together for a common goal,” opined Delmege Tours/delmege Forsyth Travels, Events and Corporate Affairs Head Mahesh Senanayake.

The climax of the hike is the gala event that will be held at Amaya Hills. Amaya Hills is the official hospitalit­y partner for the event.
