MESSAGE FROM H.E. THE PRESIDENT

- Maithripala Sirisena

I am pleased to send this message of felicitation to the EDEX Midyear Expo 2018.

The focus of the government is to increase budgetary allocations for education and utilize the added funds to provide adequate facilities to rural schools, thus gradually reducing the gap between outstation schools and premier schools in Colombo and other major cities.

The government is exploring the ways and means for improving quality of education so that the students will be equipped with knowledge to face growing competitiveness in related careers locally and globally. I see this as an area in which EDEX could align with the government efforts to empower youth in terms of education and future employability.

Since there is a gap between the job demand and the available jobs in the market there is a necessity to encourage youth to pursue technology education coupled with vocational training and skills development and the role played by EDEX to showcase the available opportunities to the youth is highly appreciable. I wish every success to the EDEX Mid-year Expo 2018.
