Had told his sister he was not sure of his life

Dr. Subash Chandra Fernanado, the brother-in-law of

JVP founder leader Rohana Wijeewera had told his sister that he was not sure of his life, a few days before committing suicide by jumping in front of a train.

This was revealed by Dr. Fernando’s sister Shirani Mallika Fernando during the inquest into the sudden death of Dr. Fernando yesterday.

Dr. Fernando who is also the brother of Srimathi Chithranga­ni, the wife of JVP founder leader had committed suicide by jumping in front of a Kandy bound express train at the Thelangapa­tha railway crossing in Wanawasala, Kelaniya.on Thursday.

Shirani Mallika Fernando said during the inquest conducted by the Peliyagoda Coroner, Attorney-at-law and Unofficial Magistrate, Pathmasiri Perera that her brother was staying at the “Paramitha” elder’s home of Thelangapa­tha, Wanawasala, Kelaniya and she used to visit him once a month. In addition to this, she said she visited him whenever he calls her.

She said during such a visit on the 27th of last month he had given her the documents of the motor car saying that he was not sure of his life as both his kidneys were weak .

Srimathi Chithranga­ni of the Welisara Navy Camp in her evidence said that she had no connection with her brother. “I received all the informatio­n about him from my elder sister”, she said.

The inquirer into sudden deaths decided to conduct further investigat­ions after recording evidence.
