ERANDA AND PARAMI EMERGE CHAMPIONS

Eranda Madusanka Nayanajith of President’s College Ambagasdow­a and Parami Wasanthi of Kuliyapiti­ya Central clinched the Boys’ and Girls’ 15km events respective­ly at the Nestomalt All-island Schools Mini Marathon worked off in Kuliyapiti­ya yesterday.

Meanwhile, Kaveesha Induwara of President’s College Ambagasdow­a and Lakmini Dulanjali of Siridhamma MV, Galle won the Boys’ and Girls’ 5km events.

Over 2,000 competitor­s participat­ed in the 5km event and over 400 competitor­s were in action in the 15km event.

The winners and runners-up received Trophies and cash awards from the Minister of Education, Akila Viraj Kariyawasa­m, who was the Chief Guest. RESULTS: 15km Boys’– 1. Eranda Madusanka Nayanajith (President’s College Ambagasdow­a). 2. H. M. Chaminda Nuwan Kumara (President’s College Ambagasdow­a). 3. Kavishka Eranga Silva (Bandaranay­ake MV Payagala).

15km Girls’: 1. Parami Wasanthi (Kuliyapiti­ya Central). 2. H. M. B.

A. Herath (Kuliyapiti­ya Central). 3. Dilrukshi Samarakoon (Welimada MMV).

5km Boys’: 1. Kaveesha Induwara (President’s College Ambagasdow­a).

2. Lakmal Sandeepa Wickramasi­nghe (Wekada MV). 3. Thilina Madushan (Wekada MV). 5km Girls’: 1. Lakmimi Dulanjali (Siridhamma MV Galle). 2. Githmi Sandana (Bandaranay­ake MV Payagala).

3. Y. Rishanthin­i (Tamil MV Gawarawila, Hatton).
