Podujana Peramuna could not bring even 50,000 people: Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara
Public Administration, Law and Order Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara said that although Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna vowed to lay siege to Colombo with three million people , it could not bring at least 50,000 .
He said this was the most unsuccessful people’s protest organized by Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa because only 1,500 buses came to Colombo despite their claim that people would come by 4,000 buses.
Minister said so at a people’s gathering organized for laying the foundation for Kosgahaarawa Weva in Madulla on last Friday. The financial assistance had been granted for this construction under ‘Gamperaliya’ programme.
He said, “Last Wednesday, Mr. Rajapaksa brought people to Colombo saying that the post of Prime Minister would be taken after laying siege to Temple Trees. How can the government power be taken over by bringing 20,000 to 30,000 people ?. I have advised as the Minister of Law and Order not even to touch the people who came to Colombo and observe what would happen. They said that they would keep awake.
