Maha Sangha discuss action against those distorting Dhamma

Malwattha and Asgiri Maha Karaka Sangha Sabawa, which comprise the Mahanayake Theras of both chapters, met and discussed action to be taken against the activities being carried out by some members of the Buddhist clergy who distort Buddhism and misleading Buddhists.

The Mahanayaka Thera of Malwattha Chapter Most Ven. Thibbatuwa­we Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera, Anunayaka of Asgiri Chapter Ven. Anamaduwe Dhammadass­i Thera, General Secretary of Asgiri Chapter Ven. Narampanaw­e Ananda Thera, Ven. Professor Medagoda Sri Abhayathis­sa Thera, Members of Asgiri Karaka Sangha Sabha Ven Urulewatth­e Dhammarakh­itha Thera,ven. Dr. Godagama Sri Mangala Thera,ven. Wandurugal­a Dhammarama Thera, Ven.ketakumbur­e Dhammarama Thera, Ven.professor Welamitiya­we Kusala Dhamma Thera of Asgiri Sangha Sabhawa and Member theras of Malwattha Chapter were present at the meeting conducted last Saturday.

After the meeting Anunayaka of the Asgiri Chapter Ven. Anamaduwe Dhammadass­i Thera said that they discussed about attempts being made to distort facts related to the Buddha’s life his Dhamma.

He said the programmes in action to harm the Buddhism were revealed to the Mahanayaka Theras and course of action needed to protect the Dhamma were discussed.

He also said Buddha Sasana and the Buddhist traditions face such attempts of distortion. He asked the Buddhists not to be misled by these actions of distortion of Dhamma by some with vested interests.
