IMTIAZ DESIGNERS

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE DEMAND FOR MADE TO MEASURE SUITS TODAY?

The demand for made to measure suits is good. A made to measure suit is focused on the cut/design/styles/structure. Compared to a ready-made, a made to measure suit is expensive. Personalised cut, fitons, made to measure finish.

WHAT MADE YOU TAKE UP MEN’S WEAR, AS MANY DON’T MAKE IT THEIR NO 1 CHOICE?

Comparied to women’s wear, men have very less dress styles in the industry. With my experience I can change a person's character by changing his costumes.

This week it's a dressy affair. With my new upcoming show on Hi TV “Date with Danu” we wanted to keep it a sharp and I wanted to work with someone who is professional and knows how a suit should sit on a person who is big framed. It's always a fight when we have to find a great suit - made to measure (M2M) is unfortunately a dying trend, but there is something when you get a suit made just for you. Working with this man who has dressed so many VIPS and now the cricket team, it seems an easy task. In suit making, it's important that you get a fabric that suits your body type - for someone like me, a flimsy fabric will never sit well and you need a man like Imtiaz to guide you on these technical matters. Tailoring can be a very particular business. You don't buy a suit for a wedding and squeeze into it twice a year. Truly stylish gents build their personal style with a series of timeless, high-quality pieces that can take you from the boardroom to a BBQ. Here is a sneak peak of what he will be dressing me in weeks to come.

WHAT ARE THE LOOKS YOU HAVE FEATURED ON ME TODAY?

Making a suit for Danu is a small challenge. I made him look slim, changing his body structure with the colour / style and cut. I used trending colours and styles.

THE CUT IS WHAT MAKES A SUIT STAND OUT. HOW DO YOU ENSURE THAT IMTIAZ DESIGNERS GETS THE PERFECT FIT?

All my cutters have experience of more than 25 years. With my supervision, they know how to cut any suit with the given measurements. Wearing a suit for occasions and wearing a suit for day to day is different. We know how to perfectly finish it. Actually, the initial cut matters.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

I like to wear neat and clean. Shoes polished, shirts and trousers neatly ironed. Preferably light colours at daytime. Occasionally, I always change my attire. Trying out new styles. I'm always updated with the new trend with suits. I do visit Italy and France often to keep up with the trend.

WHAT ARE THE CUSTOMISABLE FEATURES THAT YOU PROVIDE? SPECIALLY FOR WEDDINGS

Everything is customised when it comes to a suit with us. Especially when it's a wedding, I want the groom to stand out among the rest. Even the bride. We will match the groom's inner wear (Waist coat/tie, bow etc) with the bride's colours. Will encourage the groom to go with the latest trend. Finally, there will be a perfectly tailored suit for the groom.

WHAT MADE YOU GET INTO THIS BUSINESS?

I was working in a well reputed place. I learnt a lot. Gained a lot of experience. I had potential. I made my name and my base. I want to do something extraordinary. To all my customers I give a personalised service.

WHAT ACCORDING TO YOU IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF BEING IN THIS INDUSTRY?

Being updated with the latest and seasonal designs. Coming up with new concepts.

WHY SHOULD A GENTLEMAN PICK YOU FOR HIS SUIT?

Well I give them a personalised service/ advice. What's correct and what's wrong when it comes to a suit. We are updated with the latest trend and “A gentleman’s suit can be done by a gentleman only”.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF CREATING A SUIT?

A made to measure suit is focused on the cut / design / styles / structure”

Especially when it's a wedding, I want the groom to stand out among the rest”

Perfect measurements/ cutting / fit-ons/ good pressing and a perfect finish. It takes time. But my team and I are capable of making a suit perfectly in less than 24hrs.

Wearing a suit for occasions and wearing a suit for day to day is different”
