SECURING PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE THROUGH COLLABORATION
11th International Research conference of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University
General Sir John Kotelawaldefence University, a which has been playing the pioneering role in the field of Defence education in Sri Lanka for three decades, organized its eleventh consecutive International Research Conference marking its special contribution to the field of research and scholarships.
This two day conference held at the campus premises at Ratmalana on 13th and 14th September 2018 with the participation of the secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Kapilawaidyaratne as the Chief Guest.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Securing professional excellence though collaboration”
There were nine conference sessions under the main theme with the participation of a large number of Military and Civil scholars. The conference has received more than 500 research papers for presentation from diverse fields, it was a great achievement to have been able to attract more than 2000 researchers covering all disciplines from all over the world.
The keynote address of this year’s conference was delivered by Prof. Mohan Munasinghe, who won the Nobel price of the year 2017. He is the Vice Chair of the UN Intergovernmental panel on climate change. (IPCC-ARU)AND he also holds the Chairmanship of the Presidential Expert Commission on sustainable Sri Lanka 2030.
This International Research Conference had been organized under 09 faculty sessions with the objective of providing opportunities for National and International scholars and researchers to share their research outcome.
The engineering sessions were held covering fields of Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering and Marine Engineering.
Medical sessions were held Pre-clinical, Postclinical and clinical fields.
Allied Health Science sessions were conducted covering field such as Nursing, Medical Laboratory Services, Pharmaceutical, Physiotherapy and Radiography.
Law sessions covered areas such as International Criminal Law and International Law of Armed Conflict.
Computer sessions were held covering the fields of Computing and Information Technology.
Basic and Applied Science sessions were held covering Biochemical science, Molecular Biology, Physics and Agriculture.
Management, Social Sciences and Humanities sessions were conducted covering areas such as Management, Social Sciences, Language Teaching, Literature, Political Sciences and Economics.
Built Environment and Spatial Sciences sessions were conducted covering fields such as Architecture, Leveling and Built Environment.
This year too, the conference was organized with a plenary session and several technical sessions under each of the nine faculties.
Awards were given for the best oral and poster presentation under each faculty sessions.
Parallel to the conference several preconference sessions were also held.
