AHK Sri Lanka signs MOU with world´s leading fair organizer Messe München

The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) and Messe München signed a Memorandum of Understand­ing (MOU) in Colombo this week.

The MOU will provide Sri Lankan businesses with the opportunit­y to present their products on an internatio­nal platform to enhance their export activities and to identify suppliers. The trade fairs will enable Sri Lankan companies to stay up-todate with latest innovation­s and developmen­ts in their respective fields.

Messe München is a world leading organizer for fairs, based in Munich, Germany. It will be the first German fair to be back on the Sri Lankan market represente­d directly through AHK Sri Lanka. The MOU will guarantee Sri Lankan companies the support of AHK Sri Lanka to present and promote their services and products on Messe München fairs. Thus, AHK Sri Lanka will provide support for renting exhibition space and setting up stands, organizing ticketing as well as accompanyi­ng the Sri Lankan companies during their fair visit.

Chief Delegate of AHK Sri Lanka, Andreas Hergenröth­er pointed out that the trade fairs organized by Messe München are the ideal platform to promote Sri Lankan products and to get an overview of the latest innovation­s and technologi­es of the specific sectors. The fairs are further a great meeting point to network with world leading exhibitors. The interactio­n with other internatio­nal leading companies from the respective fair theme will provide not only insight to informatio­n and innovation but will also enhance the competitiv­eness of Sri Lankan companies globally.

It was further highlighte­d that Sri Lankan companies have the chance to participat­e in the various internatio­nal fairs held in Munich and India. Among these are Bau, the world´s leading trade fair for architectu­re, materials and systems in January 14 – 19, 2019, and Bauma, the world’s largest trade fair in the constructi­on industry from April 8 – 14, 2019. Bau impresses with latest numbers like 2,120 exhibitors from 45 countries and 80,000 of the more than 250,000 visitors being from abroad. With more than 65,000 visitors from architectu­re and planning offices, BAU managed again to solidify its reputation as a trade fair for architects. The Bauma, the other trade fair on which special emphasis was placed, had 605,000 m² of exhibition space, 3,425 exhibitors from 58 countries and 583,736 visitors from more than 219 countries. The image, insights and internatio­nality gave the fairs top marks in the past and promise to continue so. Further fairs of Messe München arethe ISPO – the leading sports fair which will take place from February 3–6 2019,IFAT, the World’s Leading Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management, held from May 4 to May 8, 2020 in Munich and the transport logistic fair from 4th-7th June in Munich.the transport logistic is the leading internatio­nal trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management and a great opportunit­y for Sri Lanka to position and promote itself as a strategic logistic hub in South Asia. The Expo Real, the internatio­nal trade fair for real estate and investment will take place from October, 7 - 9, 2019, and the Productron­ica - the world’s leading trade fair for electronic­s developmen­t and production will take place from November 12 – 15, 2019.

With their internatio­nal exhibitors and presentati­on of state-of-the-art technologi­es and developmen­ts, they are the unmissable business platform for their respective sector.

The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka is part of the German Chamber Network abroad of more than 140 offices around the world. Supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and coordinate­d by DIHK the German Chambers abroad, the Delegation­s of German Industry and Commerce represent the interests of German businesses in their partner countries. Furthermor­e, they provide competent services and offer a platform to create business opportunit­ies for both Sri Lankan and German companies in both directions.
