STALLONE THE COWBOY IN CHAPS AND HAT
returns in Rambo 5 at the age of 72
Sylvester Stallone’s John Rambo got a haircut and a cowboy makeover in the first images from the fifth and final film of the violent franchise blasting into theatres in fall 2019.
The 72-year-old action star shared BTS snaps of his troubled Vietnam War veteran perched on his horse on the set of Rambo 5, which started shooting Tuesday.
The three-time Oscar nominee’s reference to ‘Comes a Horseman Wild and Free’ might hint that the plot will resemble the 1978 western starring James Caan about ranchers defending their land. The Green Beret drifter went to Vietnam, Washington State, Thailand, Afghanistan,
and Burma on his prior adventures and now he’ll head South of the border to battle a Mexican cartel.
Stallone is rumoured to be co-directing the flick with Adrian Grunberg, and the prior four Rambo instalments spanning 1982-2008 collectively amassed $727.8M at the box office.
When audiences last saw the US Army Special Forces soldier, he had finally returned to a rural horse farm in the States marked with a rusted ‘R. Rambo’ mailbox.
On September 21, Sly (born Michael) shared a video of himself doing curl-ups while throwing a ball with his trainer Brad Siskind at Gunnar Peterson’s Gym to prepare to reprise the role. But first, the native New Yorker returns to the ring as producer, co-writer, and boxing trainer Rocky
Balboa in Creed II, which hits US theatres November 21 and UK theaters November 30.
Director Steven Caple Jr. takes the helm from Ryan
Coogler for the eighth
Rocky installment also starring Michael B. Jordan, Dolph Lundgren, Tessa Thompson, and Phylicia Rashad.
When the Golden Globe winner isn’t in front of the camera he bonds with his three daughters - Sophia, 22; Sistine, 20; and Scarlet, 16 - with third wife Jennifer Flavin since 1997. Stallone is also father to 39-year-old son Seargeoh with ex-wife #1
Sasha Czack, but their eldest Sage died age 36 from heart complications in 2012.
