Western Union and Sampath Bank facilitate int’l money transfer services across Sri Lanka

Western Union, a leader in cross-border, crosscurre­ncy money movement and Sampath Bank, one of Sri Lanka’s leading private commercial banks, have joined forces to provide customers, nation-wide access to internatio­nal money transfers in minutes from more than 200 countries and territorie­s.

Sampath Bank’s 229 branches across the island now offer Western Union Money Transfer,providing greater access and convenienc­e during traditiona­l banking hours and 365-day access from Sampath Bank’s super branches. This collaborat­ion underpins efforts by Western Union and Sampath Bank to facilitate convenient access for families of Sri Lankans living and working abroad.

Sri Lanka was one of the top five remittance receiving countries in South Asia in 2017, according to the World Bank’s report on Migration and Remittance­s.
