Ebony Holdings to sponsor FA Cup

The pre quarter-final stage of the FA Cup Knock-out Football Tournament would commence today with two fixtures down for decision in Colombo and Kelaniya.

New Youngs SC Wennappuwa will take on Red Sun SC Gampola at the Football Complex in Kelaniya while Army SC will meet New Star SC, Colombo at the City League Grounds in Slave Island with both games commencing at 3.30 p.m.

The tournament conducted by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) will be sponsored by Ebony Holdings (Pvt) Limited.

The other teams which have qualified for the pre quarter-finals are Java Lane SC, Colombo, Colombo FC, Saunders SC, Eveready SC, Air Force SC, Renown SC, Police SC, Negombo Youth FC, Prisons SC, Colombo, St. Nicholas’ SC, Jaffna, SLTB and Uruthirapu­ram SC, Kilinochch­i.

These details were revealed by Anura de Silva President, FFSL during a media briefing held at the Football House in Colombo yesterday.

“We are proud and happy to get the contributi­on from Ebony Holdings (Pvt) Limited for the pre quarter-finals of the FA Cup Championsh­ip and we are looking forward to their sponsorshi­p,” said Anura de Silva President, FFSL.

“It’s our responsibi­lity to support football in Sri Lanka and we consider this as the right time to support the game as an exclusive partner for the tournament”, said Sabir Hashim, Assistant General Manager of Ebony Holdings (Pvt) Limited.

A total of 715 teams participat­ed in this tournament.

The champions would receive a cash award of Rs. 700,000 and the runnersup would be offered a cash prize of Rs. 500,000.
