Chevening Scholarships are awarded to outstanding emerging leaders to pursue a one year masters at leading universities in the UK. A Chevening Scholarship offers financial support (including university tuition fees, living costs and travel costs to and from the UK) along with the opportunity to become part of the highly regarded and influential Chevening global network.
In September 2018, eight Sri Lankans travelled to the UK on Chevening Scholarships to read for their Masters at leading Universities – including University of Edinburgh, University College London, London School of Economics and Political Science, University of Sussex and University of Warwick. They will be studying a wide variety of topics – including accounting, archives and records management, biodiversity and taxonomy of plants, economics, entrepreneurship and innovation, film studies, human rights and social development.
Chevening began in 1983 and has developed into a prestigious international awards scheme. Chevening Scholars come from over 160 countries and territories worldwide, and more than 1,600 scholarships were awarded in 2018/2019.
