Rain hampered day one proceeding­s of the Under-19 Interschoo­ls Cricket Tournament matches which commenced yesterday.

However, the highlight of the opening day’s play between St. Sebastian’s College and Nalanda College was a top score of 116 by Dunith Jayatunga for the Sebastiani­tes in a match that was curtailed to 59 overs.

In addition, Maheesh Theekshana and Kaveesh Jayatileke cracked unbeaten half centuries as St. Benedict’s College made 213 for five in their first innings against Zahira College.
