Q HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DESIGNING JEWELLERY FOR?
I have been passionate about designing jewellery from a very young age, but it took to different heights after my marriage when I joined my father in law Seth Lalit Kumar Boochra in 1994. He and his family have been in the industry since 1897.
Q WHAT MADE YOU GET INTO THIS FIELD?
It was the encouragement of my father in law that turned my passion into a career.
Q WHAT ARE YOU INSPIRED BY?
I am inspired by the talented karigars (artisans) who have an amazing eye for creativity and versatility.
Q HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR JEWELLERY?
Our designs blend the grandeur of the past with contemporary designs. They range from light and simple to very intricate and heavy jewellery.
Q NAME SOME CELEBRITIES THAT HAVE WORN YOUR CREATIONS?
Kajol, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Karishma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Divya Balan, Alia Bhatt are some of them.
Q TELL US ABOUT YOUR COLLABORATIVE WORK WITH THE ARTISANAL COMMUNITY?
My in-laws go a long way back with the artisanal community from the time of Seth Kistoor Boochra in 1897. We have had immense support from the village karigars with their talent and unbelievable workmanship. We are more like family and we believe in uplifting them in every possible way. For example, the village karigars accompany us to most of our exhibitions to showcase their ability to the world and gain recognition for their brilliant work.
