Steadfast

- BY SIROHMI

“I can’t believe that you and I have been carrying on for three years now. I thought it was just a fling” commented Jill.

“Well, that’s what I also thought. But so far you and I have found many things in common even though we don’t meet often enough to kiss and cuddle” said Ramesh

“I think that physical attraction is not enough for a lasting relationship. It’s nice when you hold me close but you and I have faced many Ups and Downs together “said Jill.

“So that is what you mean by continuing with our love affair. I don’t think that we should get married because that is a commitment neither of us is ready for since that is for life. Anyway I think that you and I are enjoying life and our love!” said Ramesh.

“Neither of us is interested in anyone else even though we have the freedom to date anyone. So let us assume that we are steadfast in our love and will continue with our relationship” said Jill.

“It is good that no-one is telling us to get married. I think that most couples have problems after marriage and children. I know that contrary to popular thinking, living together and caring for a baby are very difficult. Most couples just cover up and go on but the attention is on the child and the husband and wife may have their own problems” said Ramesh.

“At least you are honest. Most people just get married and have children and life goes on irrespective of whether they are happy or not. That is why there is so much curiosity about marriages and families” concluded Jill.
