ICCB TO KICK OFF THIS NOVEMBER

- BY KAMANTHI WICKRAMASINGHE

International Christmas Charity Bazaar (ICCB) one of the most anticipated charity events in the seasonal calendar will kick off this November at the Galle Face Hotel with a fresh look. Organised by a group of local and expatriate ladies living in Colombo, ICCB aims to attract local and international charities that will sell different products and raise funds to make another person smile. Some of the local charities include EASE, Lanka

Alzheimer’s Foundation and Reach which are also the three main charities which benefit from this seasonal marketplace.

What’s quite interesting about ICCB is the fact that it attracts an enthusiastic crowd of shopaholics who are hunting for their seasonal goodies. Hence one could purchase everything for Christmas under one roof. In addition to locally made items sold by local entrepreneurs, every other country that participates has goodies and souvenirs unique to their respective countries.

This year too, Spa Ceylon

Ayurveda has come aboard as their title sponsor while the event will take place at Galle Face Hotel. A number of countries including Spain,

Germany, India and England are prepping up for the big day. Each year the committee aims to make the event bigger and better than the previous year making it a one-stop marketplace for everybody who has big plans for Christmas.

At the end of the day, everybody at ICCB is a winner as you not only contribute to charity but will get rewarded in return. This year, the committee has also taken on a new project titled Pink Tuk Tuk which is part of the Rosy May Foundation active in Nepal and India. Hence the ICCB committee will supply a pink tuk tuk driven by a licensed woman driver to ensure the safety of women and girls. ICCB has also been able to lend support to the suicide hotline launched by the CCC

Foundation, thereby sponsoring 1300 calls.

LUCKY DIP

At this year’s event there are over 350 plus gifts which could be won by the participants.the children’s’ lucky dip is a chance for the little ones to get involved in the fun and win fun prizes with the game of chance. All gifts for the Lucky Dip have been kindly donated by friends of the charities in the form of individuals, committee members and companies. This year as a special feature Spa Ceylon will be doing another lucky dip. This will give the ICCB patrons a chance to walk away with amazing luxury products. Once again all proceeds from this will be given to one of their adopted charities.
