Take advantage of political climate to benefit Tamils: TMVP tells TNA

- BY M.S.M NOORDEEN

The TNA should go along with a government which could change the past history and create a conducive environment to the Tamil community, Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Puligal General Secretary P. Prashanthan said.

He made the above comment at the media conference held on Saturday, in the TMVP Head Office located in the Lake Road, Batticaloa.

Speaking further he said that various political parties and political analysts were expressing different opinions on the political crisis which had emerged in the country today.

“The current political situation in the country is an important turning point as far as the leaders of the minority political parties are concerned,” the TMVP General Secretary said.

He said that the people were expressing their opinion to the effect that the change of the regime should be effectively used to find a solution for the long-standing unresolved demands of the Tamils and to decide as to how the Tamils should lead their lives in the coming years.

The Tamils were badly affected during the UNP regime and it was not only the Tamils but the whole country faced a deep crisis during the regime of Ranil Wickremesinghe. As such, the TNA and the Tamil leaders should change their stance of supporting the UNP any further, TMVP General Secretary Prashanthan said.

“We must go along with a government that could change the past history and create a conducive environment to the Tamil community. If we are adamant to cling to our stance, that would be unfavourable to the Tamil community,” he said.
