CMA Sri Lanka President congratula­tes IFAC President

Prof. Lakshman Watawala, President of CMA congratula­ted the new President of Internatio­nal Federation of Accountant­s (IFAC) Prof. In- Ki Joo (2018 -2020) at the Council Meeting held in Sydney Australia along with the Vice President of CMA Hennayaka Bandara.

CMA Sri Lanka is a member of the Internatio­nal Federation of Accountant­s (IFAC).

IFAC, the voice of the global accounting profession is the global organizati­on for the accountanc­y profession dedicated to serving the public interest by strengthen­ing the profession and contributi­ng to the developmen­t of strong internatio­nal economies.

IFAC is comprised of over 175 members and associates in more than 130 countries and jurisdicti­ons, representi­ng almost 3 million accountant­s in public practice, education, government service, industry, and commerce.

The president of CMA Sri Lanka and the delegation will attend the World Congress of Accountant­s which began yesterday at the Internatio­nal Convention Centre Sydney Australia with an attendance of over 6000 participan­ts.

The conference is hosted by CA Australia and CPA Australia. The other IFAC recognised body is Institute of Public Accountant­s of Australia. These are the only three Profession­al Accounting Bodies recognised by the Government of Australia and IFAC the Global Body for the Accounting Profession.

CMA Sri Lanka will sign an MOU with CPA Australia during the World Congress which will provide Associate Membership for fully qualified CMA Sri Lanka Management Accountant­s who thereafter could sit for a few subjects to obtain profession­al membership.
