Ceylon City Hotel opened a few months ago in the scenic city of Mount Lavinia only a few feet away from the ocean. Providing a cosy space to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, inside the city itself, it’s ranked as a four star hotel. Ceylon City Hotel, Mount Lavinia is home to a multi-cuisine restaurant by the name Blazer

Restaurant, which is their main restaurant. The Blazer Restaurant has both dine-in and takeaway options and they are in the process of finetuning the space and the menu to give the guests a sublime experience. They have newly introduced a special menu to cater to the urban folk in search of international cuisines and that is why we reviewed their menu to bring you the best.

Mexican Rice with Spring Rolls and Tomato Soup

The Mexican Rice with Spring Rolls and

Tomato Soup (Rs. 650), is served as a platter, and is easily sharable with two people for the quantity you get. The Mexican Rice was heavily seasoned with spices like cumin and was spicy with bell pepper and other spices. The rice was quite thick because it seemed to be reduced with chicken stock and the chicken was nicely fried on the outside leaving the inside soft and moist and it was dressed with BBQ sauce, which made it even better. The tomato soup served as a nice palate cleanser to start the meal and the spring rolls were out of this world. I would have happily just had the spring rolls, they were that good!

Mongolian Rice with Spring Rolls with Cream of Chicken

The Mongolian Rice (Rs. 600) is quite unlike any rice we are used to. It was spicy but has sweet notes as well coming from pineapple. It was not that oily and it was seasoned well. The chicken was fried to perfection and you should get your hands dirty to devour this baby. The Cream of Chicken was quite good, with it being creamy and loaded with chicken.

Nasi Goreng Rice with Spring Rolls and Tom Yum Soup

The Nasi Goreng (Rs. 650) is a classic in Sri Lanka and they had done justice to the dish. It was served with a fried egg sunny side up, chicken satay in peanut butter sauce, chips and cut veggies. The rice was spicy and fragrant and wasn’t that heavy as a nasi goreng is supposed to be. The chicken was nicely done and the peanut butter sauce just made it better. The Tom Yum Soup had a spicy and fragrant broth with a lot of herbs.

Seafood Pasta with Spring Rolls and Brown Onion Soup

The Seafood Pasta (Rs. 800) was loaded with cheese, seasoned well and had a generous amount of seafood. This is pretty much a classic seafood pasta dish and with the soup and the spring rolls, it is pretty reasonable. The Brown Onion Soup was also a nice addition to the pasta, with it playing along a similar flavour profile that can be found in Italian Cuisine.
