Gifts don’t have to cost a lot of money. In fact, the perfect materials for a thoughtful gift may be sitting in your recycling bin. Giving old items new life is a lot of fun. It is so cool to take something destined for the trash and turn it into something beautiful and useful. This key wind chime would make a lovely gift.

„ At least five old keys „ A piece of drift wood or stick „ String „ Acrylic paint

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

„ Paint your keys and the stick. Choose a few bright colours and paint the keys and stick. You might have to apply two coats of paint on the keys, so that they look bright. Remember to let the first side dry before flipping the key over and painting the other side. (As an alternativ­e, you could use spray paint and spray your keys in fun colours) „ Tie a piece of string to either end of the stick so that you have a way to hang it. „ Tie a piece of string to each key. „ Tie the keys to the stick making sure that they are close enough to each other that they will chime when the wind blows on them. „ You can give your handwork as a gift, or hang it up at home, balcony, garden or in school. This project should inspire you to try a little crafty recycling in your home. Your will love to turn trash into treasure. And whoever receives your thoughtful handy work is sure to be pleased as punch.
