Nishantha and Chalani win Singles Finals

Nishantha Fernando (Sri Lanka Navy) defeated Dineth Dulakshana (Sri Lanka Air Force) by 2/0 (25/05, 25/18) at the men’s finals while, Chalanai Liyanage (Sri Lanka Air Force) defeated Yasika Rahubadda (Sri Lanka Air Force) by 2/1 rounds (25/06, 20/25, 25/19) at the women’s finals at the 18th President Cup Carrom Championship conducted by the Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka.

A significant feature of this tournament was Chalani Liyanage bagging doubles crowns winning the Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles events. All together nine ‘slams’ were reported at this tournament.

This tournament consisted of four categories Singles (Men and Women) and Doubles (Men and Women) The tournament commenced on October 13 and ended on November 4 at the Headquarters of the Carrom Federation in Kohuwala with the participation of over 300 players.

Third places of both the Men’s and Women’s Singles were claimed by Mohamed Hilmy of Royal College, Colombo (25/16, 25/12) and Rebecca Dalrine of the Sri Lanka Air Force (25/09, 25/11) respectively.
