If you have the need to feel as if you are in a famous Chinese restaurant, Yue Chuan at The Kingsbury Hotel is definitely the recommended place for all lovers of Chinese cuisine. The place is popularly known for serving Cantonese and Szechuan dishes. Along with the soothing atmosphere in the restaurant, behind the glass fronted kitchen stands the master chef, Chef Hui Chang and his team member, Chef Cui Quing. Therefore, unlike many other Chinese restaurants, Yue Chuan is known for its authenticity with the two authentic Chinese chefs preparing the food for the customers. The Chinese Executive Chef, chef Hui Chang has over 24 years of experience in the art of culinary. Before joining The Kingsbury in 2013, Chef Chang had worked in well recognised places such as Kurumba Resorts Maldives and the Grand Hotel Hurghada in Egypt. He is known for having special skills and an outstanding knowledge in Cantonese dishes, Buffets, Banqueting cold and hot, Dim Sum and other many more Chinese delicacies. On the 8th of November 2018, at the Yue Chuan restaurant, Chef Chang along with Chef Quing, proved his special skills with a massive spread of highly recommendable dishes out of the menu, by the chef himself. The Chefs enlightened our taste buds up with two appetiser dishes that left us each wanting more. If you’re a prawn and a crab fan, the deep fried crab claws and the deep fried golden prawns are a must try. They not only looked scrumptious but tasted as good as it looked. Every bite was crunchy and the flavours just melted in our mouths enough to elevate a person to another planet. To make the fried batter for the prawns, the Chef mentioned that he used bread crumbs specifically to make the prawn crispier. We were then also given a chicken and sweet corn soup right afterwards, which was equally as good as the appetisers. The Chef then started serving the mains and laying them on the table and that was enough to get a stomach to grumble. On the table, were laid Asian delicacies such as, Chicken fried rice, Pork Hunen, sweet and sour chicken, Asparagus with garlic sauce, fried seaweed, crispy duck with sweet and sour sauce, crispy grouper with dry Chilli and sesame Hunan style. Although many dishes were laid out, the Chef miraculously knew the exact amount to put on the dishes as at the end of the meal almost every plate was left empty. The highlights of the meal were the crispy duck with sweet and sour sauce, the pork Hunen, the asparagus with garlic sauce and the fried seaweed. The chef then recommended some of the best desserts out of the menu which tasted absolutely phenomenal. Chef Chang wrapped up the meal with desserts such as deep fried ice cream with strawberry sauce, deep fried banana roll with ice cream and toffee sauce and Lychees with ice cream. The deep fried ice cream with strawberry sauce was popular among the tables and the Chef explained the manner in which it was prepared and we came to know the batter used to fry the ice cream was the pancake batter. Overall, the entire meal was satisfying and filling enough for everyone. The restaurant is highly recommended to anyone who loves Chinese Cuisine.
