Felicitation of social worker in Bentota

K. Jayasena (JP), a renowned social worker in the Bentota area received the “Rohana Detu Samaja Seva Sammanaya” (Sourthern Province Senior Social Worker Award) at the felicitation of Senior Citizens for their dedicated service to the society. The felicitation was organized by the Southern Province Social Welfare, Probation and Childcare Department.

He received the award for his endeavors to uplift the Southern Province Senior Citizens’ Organizations.

Mr. Jayasena commands high recognition for this Social Services in his capacity as Secretary of Angoda Senior Citizen’s Organization in Bentota, President of the Angagoda Welfare Society, Secretary of Benvehere Ganepurana Rajamaha Vihara Dayaka Sabha in Bentota, Secretary of the Bentota Bodi Trust, General Secretary of the Government Services National Pensioners’association and President of the Bentota Division Senior Citizens’ Organization.

Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando made an official visit to Air Force Headquarters recently. The Secretary was received upon arrival by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Colombo, Air Commodore Waruna Gunawardana and was conferred a Guard of Honour by the Colour Wing of the SLAF. Mr. Fernando was welcomed to AFHQ by the Commander, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy at the AFHQ Lobby and escorted to the Air Secretariat. Official plaques were exchanged between the Secretary Defence and Commander of the Air Force to mark this occasion at the Air Secretariat.

The Secretary Defence also visited the Ministry of Defence Cyber Security Centre located at AFHQ where he was briefed on how the SLAF is implementing Joint Cyber Security Operations among the Sri Lankan Forces.
