HELPAGE X’ MAS GREETING CARDS BENEFIT SENIOR CITIZENS

Sri Lanka this year too released over 400,000 greeting cards to coincide with the forthcomin­g X' mas festival. The cards are now on sale at leading Book Shops and Super Centres in Colombo and in main cities. The proceeds will be utilised to conduct free cataract surgeries for needy Senior Citizens over 55 years. The surgeries are performed at Helpage Eye Hospital, Sinsapa Road, Wellawatta (Opposite Savoy Cinema).

The proceeds will also be used to conduct free mobile medical and eye camps throughout the country for elders.

“This year we have printed varieties of greeting cards that are adorned with colourful graphic designs and the Cards depict the Nativity (the birth of Jesus Christ), Christmas Celebratio­ns, gifts which depict the joy of giving, paintings which depict Sri Lankan Culture and graphic images which depict signs of prosperity,” Helpage, Fundraisin­g Manager , Ruchilalan­i Batuwantud­awa said. Samantha Liyanawadu­ge said a significan­t number of elderly cataract patients are reported from various parts of the country and these free surgeries are conducted for such people.

He said cards are sold at very reasonable rates and Helpage requests people to make their contributi­on towards this worthy cause by sending Helpage X'mas cards to their loved ones with personal greetings.
