Student stabbed to death by three other students
Love affair involving brother the cause
The Police were on the lookout to arrest three students who had allegedly stabbed and killed another student on Saturday, (24) afternoon near a private class at Elewella Road Matara, the Headquarter Inspector of Matara said.
The deceased was identified as Jayawickrama Kan kan amara ch chi ge Rasindu Gimhana (19) a Year 13 student of St. Thomas’ Kumara College, Matara.
He was assaulted while attending a private class with two of his friends.
He is a resident of Mahahenawatta, Naimbala and was preparing for GCE (A/L) Examination to be held in next year.
The student who stabbed him and his two friends are studying in leading two schools in the Matara Town.
The dispute was that the brother of deceased had argued with the girlfriend of one of the suspects at the private class a few months ago.
The deceased had informed the suspect not to harass his brother anymore as his brother had been slapped and was threatened several times before.
All the incidents that took place had been recorded in a CCTV camera system installed at a shop nearby and all the records relevant to the incident have been taken over by the Police.the post-mortem examination of the killed student was held yesterday (25).
The injured friend of the deceased was admitted to the Matara General Hospital for treatment.
A senior Police Officer said that the three suspect students had fled from the area.
Three special Police teams are conducting the investigation including OIC HQI IP Dammika Amarasena and OIC of Crimes Unit Wijerama on the instructions of DIG Southern Province Ravi Wijegunawardena and SP Gayanga Hasanna Marapana of the Matara Police Division.
