Workshop on understanding, negotiating and booking freight

-

An essential tool to be a professional international freight manager is to improve the ability to understand freight markets to get the best possible rates for exports and imports.

In order to improve negotiation skills, a shipping industry executive needs to understand the overall workings of the freight industry, learn about surcharges, legitimacy of charges including washing charges and more, in order to make a sound decision on freight booking with a carrier.

If an executive or a manger has a good understanding of the international freight market, he or she will be able to get the best possible rates for each consignment to save money or provide the best efficient freight solutions to the clients.

The Shippers’ Academy Colombo will be conducting a half day programme at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on November 29, 2018, from 9:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.. The workshop will provide insights into understanding, negotiating and booking freight rates as well as how to use freight in terms of INCOTERMS.

Export/import managers/executives, logistics service providers and all others involved in international trade need to understand the freight market to maximise cost effective logistics solutions, how to work in partnerships with service providers to achieve best results and what to know on freight contracts. This workshop will discuss all the above and a Q&A session will follow.
