MÖVENPICK LAUNCHES WELLNESS PROGRAMME

Health is a state of mind and wellness is a state of being. With plenty of wellness retreats to visit, guests don’t necessaril­y have to sign up for a week or two of detoxing to find your zen.

The Mövenpick Hotel Colombo launched a unique wellness programme this week, which would take place daily at the Wellness Centre on the 23rd floor, taking measures to expand their fitness offerings and paying more attention to meditative, full-body-and-mind classes like yoga.the hotel now offers Zumba, yoga, contempora­ry dance and other fitness activities everyday of the week, 23 storeys high with sprawling ocean views.

The seven instructor­s bring with them a wealth of experience and join the hotel’s wellness programme from various background­s. Mimi, is a licensed Zumba and Zumba Kids junior instructor who loves to share the passion of dance and fitness variations. She will be conducting her lessons on Mondays and Thursdays from 8.30-9.30 am, Sundays 9.00-10.00 am with Zumba for Adults and on Tuesdays from 4.00-5.00 pm with Zumba for Kids aged 4-7 and on Wednesdays from 4.00-5.00 pm with Zumba for Kids aged 7-11.

Balance the mind, challenge the body and equilibrat­e the spirit with Hatha Yoga every Tuesday from 7.15-8.15 am and Fridays from 6.45 – 7.45 am with Nisalini while Melissa will take you to a whole new level of ‘Pure Body Burn’ every Wednesday from 5.30-6.30 pm and Saturdays from 7.00-8.00 am. Melissa is a profession­al dancer with a background in technique and fitness training.

Thilini will be offering guests a total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioni­ng, balance and flexibilit­y with Zumba every Thursday from 5.30-6.30 pm. Thilini is the first Sri Lankan to be certified as a Zumba speciality instructre­ss and attended the Zin Academy in Greater Noida, India. Give yourself a serious dose of awesome each time you leave this class.

Meet Uta every Thursday from 7.00-8.00 pm and join her for Kundalini Yoga sessions. She is a K.R.I (Kundalini Research Institute) certified Kundalini Yoga teacher and a member of IKYTA (Internatio­nal Kundalini Yoga Teachers Associatio­n).

Kasun Dias is also a part of the Wellness programme and will be conducting Salsa lessons every Friday from 5.30-6.30 pm. He is the founding member of the National Dance-sport Federation of Sri Lanka and a certified

Bachata Teacher.
