Parents send letters of demand to school over illegal detention of students
Disgruntled parents of a leading International School Nugegoda had sent letters of demand to the school administration over an illegal detention and confinement of students in a classroom.
Parents of the student had complained to the Women’s and Children’s Bureau that this action of the school was incorrect.
The father of the student claimed that while the school had given a grace periods to the students to pay the fees, the school administration had unfairly confined the students in a classroom on 9th of October 2018 from 8.30 a.m. to 1.30 pm allegedly for non payment of school fees. He stated that he complained it to the Women’s and Children Bureau that he had paid all fees due to school to this date without and arrears but his son was imprisoned by the school. He also said that he had paid some of the fees to the school with a penalty during the grace period.
The complainant stated that even though his child had paid all the fees his child had been imprisoned in the classroom with another 59 students.
The parents contended that the school had wrongfully confined and the restrained the students preventing them from attending classroom studies by imprisoning them in a classroom. The parents had sent letters of demand through their lawyers Derrick Fernando Associates.
