Alleged plot to assassinate President

- AN AMATEUR DETECTIVE KOHUWELA

An unknown man called Namal Kumara, calling himself

Director of Anticorruption movement, suddenly appeared on TV and played a voice recording of a secret plot by a highranking police officer and some high ranking persons to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. It also went viral. It was treated as a joke as no one took it to heart except President Sirisena who handed the matter to the CID.

CID should arrest Namal Kumara and get the truth as to who the mastermind was and how many million was paid to concoct this assassination story

Firstly, no one would like to take a pot shot at the President as he had no enemies and was loved by the people. Only the drug barons do hate him. Past President Rajapaksa had a cause to hate President Sirisena for contesting him at the last Presidential Elections and defeating him, but he would not stoop so low as to get his opponent assassinated. The chances of Gotabhaya getting assassinated was there just after Prabahakaran was defeated almost ten years ago.

An unknown man named Namal Kumara claiming he was a Director of AntiCorruption Movement suddenly appeared on TV and played a voice recording of a conversation by DIG Nakala de Silva and some high ranking persons to assassinate the incumbent President. He appeared a few days ago too with further voice recordings on TV. One couldn’t understand how such a high ranking Police Officer in Intelligence would confide in Namal Kumara about this plot. It looks as if some powerful person is behind this conspiracy either to frighten President Sirisena or to get public sympathy for the President from the people.

This voice recording has been confirmed as authentic by experts. Now that DIG de Silva is in remand custody; the CID should arrest Namal Kumara immediately and get the truth as to who the mastermind was and how many million was paid to concoct this assassination story.
