MPI CIRCUIT RELEASES BLOCKBUSTE­R 2.0 IN 110 CINEMAS HERE

The much-hyped mega Kollywood film production ‘2.0’ produced by Lyca Production with an estimated production budget of US$ 76 million, is now being screened in Sri Lanka as an MPI release. Movie Producers & Importers Company Pvt Ltd (MPI) of Sri lanka has released this movie in 110 theatres across the country. MPI Film Circuit Director Dr. Arosha Fernando said this was the first time that a film was released in 110 screens in Sri Lanka, setting a anew record. 2.0 is an Indian 3D science fiction action film featuring Rajinikant­h alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. In addition to its original language, the film has been released in 14 other languages with dubbed versions. The music of the film was composed by A. R. Rahman. ‘As part of the new developmen­t programme, the MPI Film Circuit has tied up with the world’s biggest Studios in Hollywood and Bollywood as well as in Kollywood, and in recent times released a number of other mega foreign movies in Sri Lanka,” said Dr. Arosha elaboratin­g on the company’s vision in taking the MPI Film Circuit to another height by collaborat­ing with internatio­nal giants in the film industry. ‘MPI Film Circuit proudly released the mega hit Movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ too in the Sri Lanka market which is a 2018 biographic­al film about the British rock band Queen. The film is a British-american joint venture produced by 20th Century Fox, New Regency, GK Films, and Queen Films, with Fox serving as the distributo­r. The Movie has grossed over US$ 473 million worldwide where the production budget was around US$50 million. It is the highest-grossing musical biographic­al film of all time, and we are honoured to have had the opportunit­y to release it to the Sri Lanka market,’ a proud Dr. Arosha said. Among the other recent internatio­nal Movie hits released to the Sri Lanka market by the MPI Film Circuit includes English Movies - Venom, Predator, The Nun, Small Foot, and Hindi Movie - Baazaar. ‘We have already mapped our path and are working hard on taking Sinhala films too to a higher ground soon, and all plans will be revealed to the public soon,’ concluded Dr. Arosha Fernando who has also produced 16 Sinhala films during the past 5 years making an immense contributi­on to the local film industry.
