Ramzi and Co. opens new flagship store in Colombo
Ramzi and Co., formerly known as Ramzi Gems in Ratnapura, recently launched its newest store housing an expansive collection of a wide array of jewellery and a diverse range of gems with its Gem Museum.
The new flagship store is located at No.98, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, on a 6,000 square-foot dual level property. Ramzi and Co. boasts an unparalleled collection of Sri Lanka’s finest and unsurpassed jewels, from rubies and sapphires to an amazing display of cats-eyes and topaz.
The upper level of the store consists of Ramzi and Co.’s very own cutting-edge Gem Museum. Each variety of gem stone is encased marvellously, unleashing the beauty of the stone in its primal raw state
Speaking to Mirror Business at the launch of the flagship store, Ramzi and Co. Managing Director Ifthika Razik remarked that the total investment for this venture amounts to around 900 million rupees, inclusive of the stocks of gems, stones, jewellery and other related products.
Razik said, “When it comes to styles and designs of jewellery and even advertising, we want to do it differently. We want to market in a different way. We want to change the style of jewellery on Sri Lanka. There is a whole other world of jewellery out there around the world that we want to create and bring to Sri Lanka.”
Established over 25 years ago in the ‘city of gems’ Ratnapura, originally in the gem stone business, the company was initially known as Ramzi Gems, founded by A.A.M. Razik. The company was re-branded to Ramzi and Co. with the launch of its first branch in Australia and is now headed by its second generation of siblings, Ramzi Razik and his wife Inshirah Ramzi, with sisters Ifthika Razik and Rashmiya Razik.
Ramzi and Co. Director Inshirah Ramzi opined, “At Ramzi’s what we want to be is innovative, something different definitely and this is the second generation so we just want to showcase everything unique that we have in store.”
