BOC relocates Dickwella branch to spacious premises
Bank of Ceylon (BOC) recently relocated its Dickwella branch to a spacious new premises bordering the Matara Tangalla main road.
Formerly, the branch was located on the Dickwella Beliatta Road where customers were inconvenienced due to the lack of space and parking.
Sales and Channel Managementdeputy General Managerc. Amarasinghe, who was the chief guest at the opening ceremony said that ultimate owners of the Bank of Ceylon were the people of Sri Lanka and that the management were temporary care takers of the bank’s assets.
“It is due to the bank’s performance that depositors had entrusted the Bank of Ceylon with Rs.2.4trillion of the total of Rs.12 trillion deposits held by the more than 50 financial institutions operating in Sri Lanka,” he added.
He also said that it was the bank’s policy to lend 50 percent of a branch’s deposits to its own customers. He also mentioned that the bank had to maintain interest rates so that it would satisfy both the borrower andthe depositor. He also said that the bank in keeping with the needs of its customers had upgraded the facilities at the new branch to enable customers to make withdrawals, depositsand bill payments at any time they wished may it be day or night.
