Meanwhile Mr. Rahman said President Maithripala Sirisena should resign from the presidency if he cannot work with the person who commands majority in the House.
“President Sirisena should appoint the person who commands majority in the House as Prime Minister the same way some of his predecessors did. “Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga had to appoint UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as Prime Minister in 2001 although she did not like it and did the same thing in 2004 when she appointed Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister in 2004 though she preferred to appoint Lakshman Kadirgamar to the post. Mr. Sirisena should follow the same,” he said.
