Employment laws seminar on Feb. 22

-

The National Human Resources Development Council of Sri Lanka together with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Daily Financial Times and the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka, have organised a public seminar to address the necessary policy interventions related to labour reforms in the country.

Today, the role of legal systems as a determinant of foreign direct investment is neither straightforward, nor proven, nor uniform. Therefore, it is important to know your investor and before undertaking legal reform, states must identify: which kinds of investors they hope to attract; the extent to which those investors actually take account of the legal system; what kinds of legal systems, if any, those investors are attracted to or deterred by and finally, what are the financial and social implications of reforming the legal system to attract those investors.
