‘Makandure Madush’ case in Dubai
He has allegedly provided weapons and army uniforms to “Thalalle Janga”
A military official who had been arrested on suspicion of providing weapons and army uniforms to the underworld gangster Thumbe Hewadurage Aushka Vishal alias “Thalalle Janga” now in custody in Dubai with underworld leader Makandure Madush was produced before the Matara Additional Magistrate Champika Rajapakse yesterday and remanded till February 26 after being questioned under detention for 24 hours.
The suspect Lance Corporal K.P. Kasun (33) was a resident of Thallalla in Matara who had been attached to an army camp in Vavuniya. He had been arrested by the Military Police and handed over to the Gandara police. Investigations revealed that he was the first cousin of underworld gangster Thalalle Janga. During investigations police recovered two instruction manuals received from Dubai on the use of weapons, from the suspect’s house.
Police informed court that they searched the underworld gangster Thalalle Janga’s house to find a stock of uniforms similar to those of the army and a stock of live ammunition alleged to have been received from the suspect military official.
A police team under Gandara Police Kapila Bandara is conducting further investigations on the instructions of SP Matara Division Gayanga Hasantha Marapana.
