Popular film personalit­y Deepa Mehta was a guest of honour at the Colombo Court Hotel and Spa (CCH) in Colombo during her visit to Sri Lanka. She is known as a ground-breaking screen writer, director and producer. Her emotionall­y resonating, award winning films are very famous all around the world. She is also well known for her trilogy: Fire, Earth and Water.

The director, whose previous works like Earth and Midnights Children were also book adaptation­s, said it’s hard for her not to visualise books cinematica­lly while she’s reading.
