Cambrians advance to quarter-finals

Prince of Wales College advanced to the quarter-finals of the Under-19 Division One Inter-schools Cricket Tournament when they recorded a comfortabl­e first innings win over Richmond College in the pre quarter-final encounter which concluded at Moratuwa yesterday.

Prince of Wales restricted Richmond to 162 runs in their first innings and then went on to make 247 runs in reply.

At Moratuwa (1st innings win for Prince of Wales)

Richmond: 162 and 160/4 (Vinuja Kiriella 55, Thaveesha Abishek 32, Sandun Mendis 35 n.o)

Prince of Wales (120/3 overnight): 247 (Suwath Mendis 57, Prince Fernando 43, Devaka Peiris 37, Sandun Mendis 4/64).

At Ananda Mawatha (1st innings win for St. Joseph’s)

Prince of Wales restricted Richmond to 162 runs in their first innings and then went on to make 247 runs in reply
