HOW GREAT THOU ART

-

Rohan and Ishan De Lanerolle will give thanks to God on the 24th of

February 2019 to celebrate 10 years of their unification as The De Lanerolle

Brothers . ‘How Great Thou Art’ will be held at 7pm at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour and bring together for the

first time, OKTAVE & The Choir of The Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour

to sing with the De Lanerolle Brothers.

We contacted Ishan who is in Dubai to find out details about the programme. It will feature some much loved hymns, sacred songs and anthems. He added that Rohan and he are happy to thank God and have this programme of worship music which in turn will help the Cathedral's outreach activities. These activities in the past have included supporting the Cancer hospital, widows and educating children.

We also spoke to Neranjan

De Silva who will be the organist for the evening and members of Oktave and the Cathedral choir.

"Yes they are 10 years older now. In their looks, they don’t show it, but it does show in their voices. The voices have matured, they sound fuller and blend even better. They are able to read their audiences better and ‘wow’ them better. DLB as a product has grown stronger both locally and internationally."

Jehan Bastians representing OKTAVE said "when we joined the brothers they were celebrating 5 years together. It was a very interesting programme and having sung mainly for weddings and corporate events up until that point, it was a great experience to sing with Ishan and Rohan. Singing as a backup choir, Oktave was able to add value to the performance as one of the few mixed voice group around with the quality of voices Oktave possesses. Now in 2019 as the De Lanerolle Brothers celebrate 10 year together and singing with the Cathedral choir we see their journey in music over the last 5 years. Having collaborated with them on several occasions during the last 5 years it is a much more comfortable fit, but we also see the changes they have introduced to their singing, and we are glad to be a part of the celebration.

We wish them every success as they re-invent themselves for the future and look forward to our future performances with this gifted duo."

Michelle Senanayake of the Cathedral Choir who has also been family friends has this to say.

"Rohan and I have been friends since we were teenagers and we go back a long time, singing together and being part of many different choirs. Rohan, Ishan and Sri sang for many years with the Revelations and through this the families became close friends. Personally I think during the past 10 years DLB has made a significant contribution towards the upliftment of western music in Sri Lanka, by supporting initiatives, for churches, schools and charities and bringing down musical personalities to the country and staging sit down dinner shows. We are proud of their achievement and wish them the very best of luck in their future." endeavours. Token programmes are available at the office of the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour (during week days working hours) Commons Coffee House (8am to 10.30pm) Park Street Mews, Harpos Nugegoda & Kotte.
