MEET Benny
When Major Duminda and his family decided to get a dog, they were very specific about the breed and its colour - a yellow Labrador. As fate would have it, the little puppy they were shown was a black Labrador, and despite initial trepidation, they couldn't leave the puppy behind. Lovingly known as Benny, the Labrador is very much a part of their lives and they wouldn't exchange him for the world!
Q HOW DID YOU FIND YOUR PET?
We wanted to adopt a puppy. So, we asked one of our family friends to find us a puppy. One day he said there is a one Lab; if you like we can give it to you. Then when we got there. He offered us a black lab but, we wanted a yellow lab. When we rejected him, we saw that he was sad. Then we decided to adopt him.
Q WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME YOU’VE GIVEN?
He's so playful and strong like the characters in Ben 10. So, we named him Ben. But, it was not easy to call him Ben all the time. So, we changed to Benny since it's easy for everyone.
Q WHAT ARE MEAL TIMES AND BATH TIMES LIKE?
We feed him 2 times per day & bathe him twice a week.
Q WHAT’S HIS FAVOURITE THING TO DO?
He's fond of eating spongecake and loves to play with his favourite toy “BAWWA”
Q WHAT’S THE NAUGHTIEST THING HE HAS DONE?
Taking pairs of socks and running around the house without giving them back.
Q HOW DOES HE REACT WHEN YOU RETURN HOME?
Running insanely around the house like a cheetah and hugging like a sweet little boy.
Q DOES HE DO ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY THAT FASCINATES YOU?
Whenever somebody speaks in a loud voice, he gets scared because he thinks that someone is fighting. So, he runs out from the house, sits in a corner and shows that he doesn't like it.
Q WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR PET?
He's a protector and a caretaker. Also he was our first pet and the best one someone can ever have. We never take him as our pet, he is a member of our family and my daughter's little malli.
Q WHAT WAS THE MOST UNFORGETTABLE MOMENT YOU SHARED WITH YOUR PET?
When he was small he never barked. We wondered if he was dumb. So, one day intentionally we made him angry. And that was the day he barked a lot and showed us that he's strong.
