CA Sri Lanka budget seminar 2019 to evaluate economic, tax perspectives
The annual budget seminar organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) will evaluate the economic and tax perspectives arising from the national budget.
The seminar, to be held on March 9, 2019, at The Hilton Colombo, will also feature a host of speakers and panellists, representing the private and public sectors, who will share their thoughts.
Verite Research Chief Executive Officer Dr. Nishan De Mel will deliver an economic analysis of the budget, which will be followed by a panel discussion.
The panel session will feature Finance Ministry Economic Advisor Deshal De Mel, Hatton National Bank PLC Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody, Development Strategies and International Trade Ministry Technical Advisor Mangala Yapa and Aitken Spence PLC Plantations and Business Development Head and Director Dr. Rohan Fernando. The session will be moderated by Echelon Magazine Editor Shamindra Kulamannage.
The second session will focus on the tax perspectives of the budget and will feature a presentation by KPMG Partner Shamila Jayasekara.
Jayasekara’s presentation will be followed by a panel session featuring Inland Revenue Department Tax Policy and International Affairs Senior Commissioner D.R.S. Hapuarachchi, CA Sri Lanka Tax Committee Chairperson Hiranthi Ratnayake, Fiscal Policy Department Director General K.A. Vimalenthirarajah, Gajma & Co. Senior Partner N.R. Gajendran and Ernst & Young Partner Sulaiman Nishtar. The moderator at the session will be Consultants’ Consortium Partner V. Sivagurunathan.
