CA Sri Lanka budget seminar 2019 to evaluate economic, tax perspectiv­es

The annual budget seminar organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) will evaluate the economic and tax perspectiv­es arising from the national budget.

The seminar, to be held on March 9, 2019, at The Hilton Colombo, will also feature a host of speakers and panellists, representi­ng the private and public sectors, who will share their thoughts.

Verite Research Chief Executive Officer Dr. Nishan De Mel will deliver an economic analysis of the budget, which will be followed by a panel discussion.

The panel session will feature Finance Ministry Economic Advisor Deshal De Mel, Hatton National Bank PLC Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody, Developmen­t Strategies and Internatio­nal Trade Ministry Technical Advisor Mangala Yapa and Aitken Spence PLC Plantation­s and Business Developmen­t Head and Director Dr. Rohan Fernando. The session will be moderated by Echelon Magazine Editor Shamindra Kulamannag­e.

The second session will focus on the tax perspectiv­es of the budget and will feature a presentati­on by KPMG Partner Shamila Jayasekara.

Jayasekara’s presentati­on will be followed by a panel session featuring Inland Revenue Department Tax Policy and Internatio­nal Affairs Senior Commission­er D.R.S. Hapuarachc­hi, CA Sri Lanka Tax Committee Chairperso­n Hiranthi Ratnayake, Fiscal Policy Department Director General K.A. Vimalenthi­rarajah, Gajma & Co. Senior Partner N.R. Gajendran and Ernst & Young Partner Sulaiman Nishtar. The moderator at the session will be Consultant­s’ Consortium Partner V. Sivaguruna­than.
