CMA ‘Budget Highlights’ seminar on March 11
The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) will conduct a seminar on ‘Budget Highlights 2019 – Tax Proposals and Impact on Business and Economy’, on Monday, March 11, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Cinnamon Lakeside, Kings Court.
The focus of the seminar will be to highlight the important aspects of Budget 2019, covering the economy and taxation with special emphasis on corporate and personal taxation, VAT and miscellaneous taxes and the impact of new taxes on businesses and the economy.
The seminar will be inaugurated by the chief guest Finance State Minister Eran Wickramaratne and he will address the gathering on ‘Budget Highlights 2019’.
The welcome address will be delivered by CMA Sri Lanka President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala. The presentations on ‘Highlights on Tax Proposals in Budget 2019’ will be delivered by Inland Revenue Department Commissioner General Nadun Guruge and ‘Taxation Proposals in Budget 2019’ by Ernst & Young Tax Partner Nishtar Sulaiman.
After the presentations, there will be two panel discussions with the participation of senior government officials, business leaders, academics and experts from the sectors of economy taxation, business, banking and industry.
The first panel discussion will discuss the ‘Impact of Budget Proposals on Economy’ and it will be moderated by University of Colombo Professor in Economics Prof. Sirimal Abeyratne and the panellists are Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka Executive Director Dr. Dushni Weerakoon, University of Colombo Professor of Business Economics Prof. H.D. Karunaratne, Central Bank of Sri Lanka Senior Deputy Governor Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe and KPMG Tax and Regulatory Principal Suresh Perera.
The second panel discussion will discuss on ‘Impact of Taxation Proposals on Business’. It will be moderated by Ernst & Young Partner Duminda Hulangamuwa and the panellists are Gajma & Co Senior Partner N.R. Gajendran, Inland Revenue Department Senior Commissioner Ranjith Hapuarachchi, Cargills Bank Limited Joint Deputy Chairman and Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka/chairman Rajendra Theagarajah and National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka President Aselade Livera.
This seminar is suitable for professional management accountants and financial managers and accountants, directors, CEOS, managing directors, managers and executives in the fields of marketing, human resource, IT, transport and logistics, finance, stock market, tourism, telecommunications.
