GCE A/L: Online GIT exam from March 11 to 18

Applications have already been sent to schools. Those who did not receive them are requested to contact the Examinations Department

The Examinations Department has decided to hold the GCE A/L General Information Technology (GIT) examination online as a pilot test.

Examinations Department Commissioner Sanath Pujith said the pilot test would be held from March 11 to 18 at 655 centres with the participation of 186,097 candidates.

“Applications have already been sent to schools. Those who did not receive them are requested to contact the Examinations Department. Candidates can use their national identity card, driving licence or passport along with the application form. Candidates who haven’t submitted their applications won’t be allowed to face the examination. Applicants should be present at the examination centre at the given time,” he said.

The department has already appointed invigilators to coordinate with 173 centres and issued the schedule of the exam as follows;

Two sessions per day will be held for eight days. Candidates should be present at the examination centres on time. They should check their examination number and medium. Two exam papers will be given for three hours. 10 extra minutes will be granted as loading time. The first paper consists of 40 Multiple-choice Questions (MCQS) and the correct answer will be marked according to the online system. The second paper with seven questions should also be answered according to the system. Candidates should follow the conditions when answering the questions.

None of the candidate will be allowed to wear smart wristwatches and have in their possession mobile phones or other electronic devices.

No one will be allowed to enter the examination centres except appointed invigilators.

Those who violate the conditions or cheat at the exam will be suspended from appearing for the any exam conducted by the department for five years.
