Foundation of Goodness celebrates 20 years
The Foundation of Goodness celebrates 20 years of humanitarian service in 2019 and a special press conference took place on March 12, 2019, at the project headquarters and flagship model- The MCC Centre of Excellence and Sports Academy in Seenigama.
Established in 1999, the Foundation of Goodness (FOG) has worked extensively to develop a one-of-a-kind, holistic, rural community development model which today delivers a wide range of programmes through the MCC Centre of Excellence and Sports Academy in Seenigama, as well as 10 Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centres located islandwide.
The Foundation of Goodness has continued to expand and grow both in terms of its reach and the breadth of its programmes and will be kicking off a range of new projects in its 20th year. -Establishing a Bat Repair Unit
-Opening the ‘Murali Museum’ in Seenigama
-Two new Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centres to be established
Increasing the generation of sustainability funding to cover 50 percent of Foundation of Goodness’ activities
Partnership with the National Olympic Committee to develop rural sports and produce a future Olympian Completing the 10th Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Plant in regions affected by Chronic Kidney Disease due to water contamination and pollution
Partnership with the Association of Professional Sri Lankans in Australia to provide solar power and clean water to rural villagers
Partnership with Tokyo Cement for Coral Replanting at ‘Dive Seenigama’ diving centre (a sustainable income generation venture of the Foundation of Goodness)
Expanding international school sports tours to ladies cricket, netball and swimming (currently an average of 60 overseas cricket and netball teams visit the Foundation of Goodness every year)
Developing special needs facilities in Sri Lanka
Completion of 100 consecutive months of visiting the North for development activities in April 2019
Launching the Good Life Institute
Continuing to serve over 28,000 beneficiaries annually from over 300 villages islandwide, free of charge, via 10 empowerment divisions
The Foundation of Goodness illuminates the lives of rural underserved villagers, invigorating them to overcome challenges and build self-reliant and resilient lives as it continues to fortify one life at a time to build a promising tomorrow for the humanity.
