at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo

-

Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts completed its 47-day run of live screening the ICC World Cup 2019, at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo last month, making it a popular spot for Cricket fans to flock to catch their favourite matches. The Poolside Terrace at Cinnamon Lakeside recreated a stadium-like experience in witnessing the 12th Edition of Cricket World Cup hosted by England and Wales. The screening creatively named ‘Sixes And Hat Tricks’ attracted ardent cricket viewers in Sri Lanka who were seen at the poolside cheering the matches as they reached fever pitch.

Cinnamon dedicatedly live-screened all the 48 matches from 30th May to 14th July, right up till the finale of the tournament with hosts of people popping-in after work and on weekends to cheer for their teams and watch their favourite matches come to reality. The events were powered by Mobitel and Sampath Bank, while The Sunday Times, Daily Mirror, Daily FT and Lankadeepa partnered as the official print media sponsor. The event was also sponsored by South Asia Gateway Terminals (Pvt) Ltd (SAGT) and John Keells Properties. Mobitel, a fully-owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom, is one of the largest telecommunication providers in the island, with a customer base of over 5 million users. They have been able to strive to its current position with immense value innovation and customer centricity and hence their support to Cinnamon has been extremely significant.

Sampath Bank graciously offered up to 50% off on all food and beverages, and an extra 20% off for Sampath Bank Credit Card Holders for the duration of the live-screening, which was indeed beneficial to many who were frequent visitors to Six and Hat Tricks. Sampath Bank, as leading financial body in the country has reached great heights over the past 25 years by introducing a host of novel banking approaches while simultaneously making the subject of finance relevant to the public.

Recurrent print media partners, The Sunday Times, Daily Mirror, Daily FT and Lankadeepa, were integral in creating awareness on the screening. As the largest print media body in the country with the highest cumulative circulation, their support was key in communicating the message of the creatively designed live screening of the matches held at Cinnamon Lakeside. South Asia Gateway Terminals (Pvt) Ltd., better known as SAGT is on a 30-year organisation owned by a consortium of local and international establishments and is located in the port of Colombo at the renowned and historic Queen Elizabeth Quay. SAGT came on board with Cinnamon to support the event, seeing it as a timely initiative to draw people out, post the events of April 21st.

As one of the leading real estate companies in Sri Lanka, John Keells Properties has managed to be the driving force behind Colombo’s up and coming landscape. Their portfolio includes 7th Sense, The Monarch, and The Emperor, which are lavish residential apartment complexes in Colombo.
