Dinal, Vithara steer St. Joseph’s to victory

A knock of 77 by Dinal Anuruddha and a fivewicket haul by Vithara Thenuka paved the way for St. Joseph’s College to record a comfortabl­e 47-run win over Tissa Central Kalutara in the second round match of the Under 17 inter-school cricket tournament played at Kalutara yesterday.

Dinal’s knock helped St. Joseph’s taking first lease of the wicket to make a modest score of 200 and Vithara’s five wickets enabled them to bowl out the home team for a score of 153 runs.

Thurstan secured a 32-run win against Ananda College in a low scoring match of the same tournament played at Thurtsan ground and St. Peter’s College Negombo coasted to a well deserved four-wicket win against fancied De Mazenod at Godigamuwa while St. Joseph’s College Wattala overcame St. Patrick’s College Jaffna by 57 runs in the match played in Jaffna.
