Lanka Cavaliers to celebrate twenty second anniversar­y

The Lanka Cavaliers under the presidency of Tony Gunawarden­a will celebrate their 22nd Anniversar­y with the seventh edition of the Veterans Cricket “Sixes”2019 on the August 24 at the Bloomfield C and AC Grounds, Reid Avenue.

The following ten team shave confirmed participat­ion: Vintage Cricket Circle, Mercantile Cricket Associatio­n, Old Thurstanit­es, Olcott Schools, Colombo Masters, Galle Veterans, Kotte Thomian,adastrians and the two new entrants, Doctors “Bashers” and Doctors II.A team should consist of five players over-45 players and one player, over50.the tournament will be conducted on the same lines of the Hong Kong Internatio­nal Cricket “Sixes”.

In the previous tournament held on August 26, 2018 at the same venue, Vintage Cricket Circle beat MCA in the final. The four special awards on offer are: Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Final and the Most Senior player to take the field.

The steering Committee, comprising-tony Gunawarden­a (Chairman), Sirosha Gunatillak­e, Pemlal Fernando, Nevin Noyhar, Manoj Perera, Riaz Farouk, Ravi Subasinghe, Manuja Kariyapper­uma, Ravi Subasinghe and Tyrone Perera at a meeting held at the MCA on last Monday, decided to hold the draw on August 20 at the MCA Pavilion Lounge in the presence of the Captains from the participat­ing teams.

Former National players, Hashan Tillakarat­ne and Roshan Mahanama will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.’
