AAT Sri Lanka extends humane hands to remote school in Galgamuwa

Associatio­n of Accounting Technician­s of Sri Lanka (AAT Sri Lanka) while being engaged in taking accounting education to grass root levels of the country, experience­d a pleasant surprise in extending its humane hands to a worthy cause under the auspices of its first CSR project on the theme “AAT Samaja Mehewara (Social Mission)” through the interventi­on of social media.

It happened as a result of responses by a Facebook group in reply to a suggestion published by the AAT Sri Lanka official Facebook page offering support to rural schools.

The opportunit­y of donating books to the school library and sports equipment to Galpitiya Junior School in a hamlet in Galgamuwa division, Maho educationa­l zone Kurunegala district arose in that manner.

Coming under the category of most rural schools, with 270 students from grade 1 to 11 and 18 teachers, it is located near Kalankutti­ya tank which is the Anuradhapu­ra Kurunegala district border.

The main occupation of villagers there is Chena cultivatio­n. The area is not only affected by drought but also by wild elephant attacks. Despite all that, the school had gained recognitio­n winning prizes is aesthetics at inter provincial level competitio­ns.the donation was made to the school’s Principal Nihal Rathnamala­la, by a team on behalf of AAT Sri Lanka comprising CEO Tishanga Kumarasing­he, Marketing Manager Dinuka Subapandit­ha and Student Registrati­on and Membership Head Nadee Perera, who visited the school recently.

Being a non-profit oriented educationa­l institute, AAT Sri Lanka intends to extend benefits to schools in rural areas through this social mission project to develop knowledge and skills of students.
