UNP should fight Gotabhaya with Fonseka

-

Now it is confirmed that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa would be the candidate of the Opposition at the forthcoming Presidential Election.to defeat him, the UNP has to immediately stop infighting and nominate the one and only person very capable in every letter of the word to defeat Gotabhaya - Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka.

Thus peace will prevail in UNP, and all their allies will back him to the hilt, not forgetting the en bloc of suffering masses awaiting the arrival of a formidable man like the Field Marshal to protect them and the country.

Accordingly, Ranil Wickremesinghe should propose and Sajith Premadasa second the name of Sarath Fonseka at the forthcoming meeting of the UNP, as their presidential candidate.

Undoubtedly, with Fonseka, the current extremely poor all-round administration of the country will be improved, not by force but by direction.

The country is and has been in an utter mess. This, sadly, is the general opinion of most of the learned public. Why? Look at the number of strikes during the past period.they were all unnecessary, unhealthy and against the people, rather than the government.

See the mess in the financial, education, health, public service, transport and a few more fields to be named. These are besides the corruption, violence and insecurity of the people exposed to more vulnerable situations such as bombings.

All this is due to the lack of law and order in the country. It is therefore high time that our country should be governed by one like Lee Kwan Yew of Singapore or Mahathir Mohamad of Malaysia. The ideal leader to match them will be Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, a man from the forces, where officers are hailed as men of strict discipline, and decorated with the bravery to do the right thing at the right time and at the right place.

The UNP should forget their personal, political or other relationships, and to look at Sarath Fonseka, as a possible strong administrator of the country. With Fonseka as President, which is amply possible with full backing of the UNP, (Unlike the foolish thing it did last time), Ranil, as Prime Minister can engage in excellent international support coordination and Sajith Premadasa, following his beloved father’s agenda may proceed with what he is doing now, and use his wisdom to wait for his golden day which will dawn on a future date.
