George Steuart Teas known as the “Original Ceylon Tea People” launched an islandwide door to door campaign offering consumers a host of benefits.

The first phase of the campaign consists of covering 10 key areas; Panadura, Horana, Rathnapura, Balangoda, Anuradhapura, Negombo, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Kandy and Mannikhinna.

The teams plans to cover 15,000 households during this phase. Special offers were given on purchases of Steuarts Premium, Rosa Kahata and Ginger tea.

In addition, people were educated on buying quality tea and to be careful of adulterated low quality loose tea which is sold. Town storming campaigns were launched jointly with Derana Radio covering nearly 22 towns each month in the relevant areas.

At each location a wheel of fortune was placed for participants to take part in “Thea Vasi” to win gifts of caps, t-shirts, clocks and tea for a whole year could be won. A number of competitions were held to entertain the crowds at these locations.

George Steuarts and Co. Consumer Chief Executive Officer Paddy Weerasekera said: “Through this initiative we are happy to be able to connect with our consumers on a one to one basis. This allows us to reassure our brands commitment and also get valuable feedback. All the feedback that we gather from these interactions will be documented and evaluated for future actions.”

Today the brand is very popular among regular tea drinkers locally and internationally where its exported to over 50 countries. Locally the BOPF grade, Dust (Kahata), Natural Ginger and Green Tea is sold in most retail outlets and supermarkets across the island.
